Raw Food Lifestyle

PAWS is now offering you a sumptuous raw feast 7 days a week for lunch and dinner at our City Cafe. Experience a raw food lifestyle with our resident raw food expert, naturopath and nutritionist Karen Bartz.
Karen has years of experience preparing raw food, and runs classes and retreats. She is also the author of the cookbook Raw Food Reawakening, and has produced a DVD on health and nutrition, Rejuvenate with Raw.
A few years ago, while studying nutrition and naturopathy, Karen Bartz discovered improved physical health to be just one of the many benefits of eating raw foods.
Karen turned to raw food when she fell ill because of her hectic lifestyle. She was keeping up a gruelling schedule of work, study, volunteering and caring for a family member while attending a weight loss clinic that encouraged eating animal protein at every meal.
The raw food detoxified her body, allowing her to regain her wellbeing. It also opened doors she had not known existed to her mind, body and soul.
Clarity of vision
“Raw food nutrition is the best avenue I have found for increasing energy, stamina, feelings of good health and vitality, peace of mind and clarity of vision and purpose,” Karen said.
“Just as it detoxes the body, so it detoxes the emotions, your life and, I believe, even our world.”
Karen describes herself as a “raw food nutritionist and naturopath” and claims the more raw food people choose to eat the better their health will be.
It is disappointing to her that the mainstream medical system seldom looks at diet in relation to disease.
“The assumptions usually are that the disease process is irreversible or the patient would not be prepared to change what they are doing in order to achieve a different outcome,” Karen said.
She tells us raw food can be as exciting and tasty as cooked food, and building it into the diet gradually is best.
