Salvos latest Economic and Social Impact Survey
Posted by Mark Meerman | April 27th, 2016The Salvation Army’s latest Economic and Social Impact Survey* has revealed staggering results on how people are entrenched in poverty across Australia, and suffer more than ever in the winter months. Key statistics to come out of the 2015 nationwide survey are:
- 57% have gone without meals
- 13% of respondents had no stable accommodation
- 67% of respondents experienced extreme housing stress, paying more than 50% of their income for accommodation
- 75% of respondents indicated they had cut down on basic necessities
