Toby the Wonder Dog dies at 14

TELEVISION vet Katrina Warren was unable to take calls yesterday following the death of her beloved pet Toby The Wonder Dog at the weekend.
The celebrity pooch died in his sleep from old age at Warren’s Sydney home on Saturday aged 14 – an impressive 98 in dog years.
The chocolate-coloured border collie became a four-legged media sensation as Warren’s trusty constant companion on Channel 7’s animal series Harry’s Practice in the 1990s.
Toby was even part of the bridal party at Warren’s marriage in Palm Beach in 2006 to Melbourne businessman Anthony Darcy.
“For 14 years we were a team and our relationship was filled with unconditional love, trust and friendship,” Warren said yesterday in a prepared statement.
“While I am deeply distressed by his passing, it is important to remember he lived an amazing, full life and he leaves so many wonderful memories.
“We must celebrate not only Toby’s extraordinary journey and his relationship with me, but the way our four-legged friends enrich our lives and make the world a better place.”
It’s been tough years for Warren, who became a single mother to daughter Charlotte, now two, in 2008 after separating from her husband.
Last year came the death of her beloved cat, Millie, also a television regular.
Warren has been working on a US series called Housecat Housecall and is making occasional appearances on the weekend Today show.
Toby, whose smiling face has shone from dogfood and dog product packaging for more than a decade, is survived by his good mate Archie.
